Dr. Daniel Prather, A.A.E., CAM

C. Daniel Prather, Ph. D., A.A.E., CAM is an experienced aviation professional, having served for ten years at Tampa International Airport with the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority.  From July 1996 to April 1998, Dr. Prather served as Airport Operations Specialist and was fortunate enough to have rotated through all airport departments gaining experience in Finance, Maintenance, Marketing, etc.  In April 1998, Dr. Prather was promoted to Assistant Director of Operations, serving in this position until July 2006. 

 

In this position, Dr. Prather played an integral role in maintaining airport safety and security, with responsibilities for both airside and landside at Tampa International Airport.  During the ten years Dr. Prather served at Tampa International Airport, the airport enjoyed ten consecutive years with no FAR Part 139 discrepancies.  Dr. Prather also provided daily oversight of wildlife hazard management, daily self-inspections, ARFF, FOD, construction safety, and other areas to ensure compliance with FAR Part 139, FAR Part 77, and TSA Part 1542. 

 

Dr. Prather has been an Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) through the American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) since May 1999.  He has been a Certified Aviation Manager (CAM) through the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) since 2013.  Dr. Prather is also an instrument-rated private pilot and a baritone saxophone player.

He currently trains airport professionals nationwide on behalf of the American Association of Airport Executives. Additionally, he trains business aviation professionals nationwide on behalf of the National Business Aviation Association and Helicopter Association International. He serves as a consultant to airports and the Transportation Research Board. Dr. Prather is currently the Chair of the University Aviation Association (UAA) Strategic Planning Committee and member of the NBAA Professional Development Program (PDP) Review Committee. Dr. Prather earned a Bachelor of Commercial Aviation degree from Delta State University, a Master of Public Administration degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.
